Frequently Asked Questions
Where is your studio? Can you also take photos at my location?
My photography studio is located in St. Louis. It is fully equipped with makeup and wardrobe stations and can accommodate large groups.
I also have a fully mobile setup so I am to take studio quality photos at almost any location. Many businesses prefer to have me setup in their offices and take professional headshots of multiple team members on site. I charge a nominal travel and setup fee for this service, and rates depend on your location.
Personal branding portraits and environmental portraits are often done at a predetermined location, often outdoors. Here are some of my favorite photography spots in and around St. Louis.
How far in advance should I book my photoshoot?
I recommend setting up your photoshoot date as early as possible to ensure availability. I typically book shoots 2-6 weeks ahead. However, I am often able to book clients within a shorter time frame.
How should I prepare for my headshot session? What should I wear to the photoshoot?
It’s best to keep it simple! Don’t overthink your wardrobe. Headshots and portraits should be focused on you and not on what you are wearing.
Men, I ask that you find your best suit, one that makes you feel sharp and confident, and bring a few of your favorite ties if you are accustomed to wearing one.
For women it is always a great idea to hire a talented hairstylist and make up artist. I am happy to recommend some, so please ask! Having a professional touch to your styling can make a big difference.
For wardrobe, I recommend bringing several solid colored tops with a variety of neck lines. Sometimes it’s nice to add a bit of texture with a tactile fabric such as a braided wool sweater, a silk blouse, etc.
We all have those favorite pieces of attire that we naturally gravitate towards wearing because of the way they make us feel, so be sure to bring those outfits with you.
Be sure to get your beauty sleep the night before and come to the studio with bells on!
I don’t know how to pose. Can you help me?
Don’t worry, you are not alone! Having your photos taken can be a intimidating prospect and this is a concern that many first-time clients voice. Rest assured, I’m here to help make the process efficient and fun. It’s my responsibility to help you with posing and expression. As we take your photos I’ll be giving you simple directions that will help us get great posture, body language, and flattering angles.
When will I receive my photos?
Your proofing gallery is delivered within 24 hours of the photoshoot. Sometimes I am able to get these to you the next day.
The next step is for you to carefully review the photos and pick out the ones you would like to have edited.
Once you’ve made your selections I begin my editing and retouching process. Most photos take approximately 24 hours to return fully edited, but turn around time can vary depending on the number of photos selected.
What is your payment policy?
Your session fee is the deposit required to reserve your session. Credit Card, Zelle, Check, PayPal, Venmo or Cash are all accepted.
What is your cancellation policy?
Deposits are not refundable but they can be applied toward a future date within one year of the original booking date, as long as appropriate notice is given. I ask that a minimum of 48 hours notice be given if you need to reschedule your photoshoot.
Do you provide photo prints?
Yes, I’m proud to offer high-quality prints and print products, including wall art, canvas prints, and photo albums. The printers I’ve partnered with specialize in archival quality products and ordering print products are a feature of your online gallery.
